Yamaha p515

It has only been a few months since the P was replaced by the next generation, the Pand Yamaha has already come out with the replacement for the Pthe much awaited P This new model in the P series is turning rapidly into one of the flagship models of the piano manufacturer.

Probably the biggest difference between the P and its predecessor is in the key action department. This is a significant improvement in the experience of playing this musical instrument. Another big improvement in terms of experience are the grand piano samples. Only these two differences already make the P a better digital piano than the predecessor.

At the same time, these differences place it among the best choices in its price range. An interesting point, especially for all you composers out there, the P has a built-in 16 track MIDI recorder, which enables you to make recordings right there on the piano. While looking at other options within the price range, there are not many models that have this feature.

Right from the start, it may be a good idea to have someone help you on the shipping day, if 60 pounds sounds pretty heavy for you. The Yamaha P digital piano is indeed designed to be portable, as in moving it to a vehicle back and forth. The design is very nice; smooth and modern. You will have to buy that separately, but you will be able to pair the optional 3-pedal unit for a realistic piano playing experience.

It gives the same decorative value to a room as a nice piece of furniture. The dashboard features 23 buttons of rectangular shape that you can use to switch between effects and sounds. The blue screen on the dashboard measures x 64 dots and integrates itself in the general design in a nice way. The buttons also light up with the blue light when pushed. The buttons are not the only way of operating the settings of the Yamaha P You can connect it to to a portable device via the Smart Pianist App and use that to navigate the settings.

A weakness should be noted at this point concerning this pianos pianos inability to save certain settings combinations. This is a weak point when compared to other options in this category, like the Roland FP and the Kawai ES8, which both have this possibility.

Here Yamaha has applied a feature previously found only on the the models in the Clavinova series. The keys are made out of wood and are covered with synthetic ebony and ivory. The playing experience is really smooth, very close to the way playing on the keyboard of an acoustic piano feels like.

yamaha p515

If you ever played one of the Clavinovas, then you know how it is. The keys are very responsive to over the entire board. But they also have a nice weight to them.It is so easy to use this model. You simply just plug it in, press the on button, and play. There is no messing around whatsoever. Now, lets talk about the controls on the front panel of the PB; every button really does have a very practical purpose. Yamaha keep it beautifully simpleand the P really is one of the easiest portable pianos to operate.

The P has 88 keys, which is the same as a traditional piano. The Yamaha P portable piano goes a step further in its authenticity because the white keys on here are actually made out of wood. Why is this important? The speakers are built in with the P The P gives you plenty of volume. You do also have the option to use headphones of course, there are two headphone sockets; so you could even play a duet.

The Yamaha P is great for teaching. I need to also mention an important point about the headphones, a very fantastic feature! Yamaha have developed a special technology called Binaural samplingwhich is just for playing with headphones. The sound is usually very direct with most headphones on digital pianos.

The sound is in both of your ears at the same time, and it can be a bit overwhelming. What you really want simulated when playing the piano with headphones is to have the real experience of playing in front of a concert grand piano.

It feels like you are just playing through the main speakers; the technology of the Binaural sampling is just amazing. We have a 16 track recorder on the Yamaha P portable piano as well, which is fantastic if you write musicif you compose a songwriter, you can do it all onboard in the piano. You can record it as a midi file, or a WAV file, and when it comes to transferring it off the piano and putting it on your computer or whatever you do with itit has got a USB socket in the front.

We also have Bluetooth audio streamingwhich is great. It is very thoughtful of Yamaha to start designing stuff like this, that is integrated into modern technology. If you have music on your phone whether it be IOS or Androidyou can now stream it straight through the speakers of the piano.

The app in simple terms has the ability to read the music in your music collection on your phone, and it will give you things like the chords on your Ipad or your iPhone so you can play along with it. The app even gives you a suggested notation for an accompaniment as well. The Yamaha P offers 40 rhythm backings as well; this is really nice little feature. Rather than to just use a metronome to keep yourself in time, you have got 40 different types of rhythm that play along with you as well.

It is not just drum beats that it does, it also plays a bass accompaniment. The piano is intelligent enough to read what you are playing, and give you the correct accompaniment. There are 40 different styles on the P as I say with lots of different genres, so there will definitely be something to suit your playing. We have got an excellent selection of voices, and different sounds that it will make on here as well.

In fact we have 10 different pianos to start with, including the two great concert grands that I mentioned at the beginning. We have got several different types of electric piano as well, great for stage use. As well as six organs cathedral organs, Chapel organs, jazz organs tooand seven different types of strings in there as well; so fantastic for ballads or classical pieces. The P is the flagship in the P-series.

The colors and finishes shown may vary from those on the actual products. Before you read any more remember these posts with the best apps for when you finish reading this post:. Yamaha Corporation is a Japanese company with a wide range of products and services, mainly musical instruments and electronic devices. Today we will thoroughly analyze the characteristics of the Yamaha P a digital piano with many and very good features. As you can see it is a great instrument that has the best characteristics to be used live, in the studio or as a piano for practice.

Talking a little about its NWX Natural Wood X keys, they are the same ones Yamaha uses for its grand pianos, made using the best woods that were dried with the only intention of making musical instruments, this gives us a greater resistance to possible malformations due to their use or abuse. The white keys have a synthetic ivory coating, while the black keys have a synthetic ebony coating.

The feel of the release mechanism is also the same as that of a grand piano. From its improved VRM Virtual Resonance Modelingwe can comment that it is able to calculate the string state of the 88 keys it has continuously, and it also calculates certain resonances produced by the strings and also includes harmonics that sound both on the soundboard, the soundboard and the frame, thus adding brightness, sonority and complexity to the sound.

And because it has no dampers, they continue to sound subtle, even after you have lifted your fingers from the keys. With the notes of polyphony we have to play any composition in front of us. Really the Yamaha P is a marvel that you can see in these 2 very powerful videos of the and then we go with the comparison tables:. Also at the end of the post you will find a section with the best shopping possibilities for this digital piano.

But you can go directly to that part of the post by pressing the following button. As we can see, they are two digital pianos of the same brand and with very similar functions, although the Yamaha P always has the advantage in its functions and features, of course, it is almost twice as expensive and the Yamaha P We are going to put the features of each of these pianos in 2 different columns to make it easier to see the differences and then from these will come the videos.

You can see its features where each piano has an advantage in a certain function, when the Yamaha has a little more power in its speakers, a wider track recorder, the Kawai includes the sustain pedal.

We will also talk about the sound engines of each instrument, as we already mentioned the Yamaha P has the Yamaha CFX sound engine which refers to the grand piano with the same name with more than 17 years of development.

The CFX delivers brilliant highs, powerful basses with incredible dynamic range and the power to project over a full symphony orchestra. While Kawai gives us the Harmonic Imaging XL sound engine, when we play a note using dynamics, not only is its intensity changed, but also the character of the note and the overall performance.

We are going to put the characteristics of each of these pianos in 2 different columns to make it easier to see the differences and then from these will come the videos. Excellent comparison taking into account that the difference is Euros, we see how the Roland has many advantages starting with the amount of sounds and its great output of 60 Watts in total, with a power like this you could play very well in a closed room, like a bar, restaurant, etc.

In addition to having the microphone input function. It also has the characteristic of having a curve without jumps in its intensity range to have a dynamic more emulated to a real acoustic piano. Finally, at the release of each note, the SuperNATURAL sound engine does not create loops of the same sound, but a release similar to that of an acoustic piano.JavaScript seems to be disabled in your browser.

Yamaha P515 Review

Black 9 item White 7 item. Are you a die hard fan of Yamaha? Like me you love digital pianos but you are not sure about the Yamaha p? This keyboard is supposed to replace the great P and according to the manufacturers, Yamaha p comes with everything its predecessor had to offer and a few extra features to meet the new music demands.

This keyboard is marketed as a revolutionary keyboard with remarkable keys and even better voices, but does it really live up to the hype? Is it good enough for anyone with a p to consider upgrading? In this review, we will be taking a quick look at the key features and all other specs about this keyboard. We will also try to see whether the new features are worth the time of either a beginner or an advanced pianist.

Click image for best price on P :. The first amazing thing we noticed about the Yamaha P is the use of the two finest pianos in the world to come up with incredible sound samples. These two premium pianos have been used at some of the biggest music stages in the world. The sounds are simply stunning! They were recorded at various velocity layers and this helped in ensuring that the loudness and harmonic content match the keyboards playing style perfectly.

This tech added some soundboard resonances, strings and made a few improvements to the damper pedal. When playing this keyboard, you will also notice timbral and amplitudinal changes every time you release the keys.

The sounds here will definitely satisfy your taste for high-quality music. One of the biggest selling points of the Yamaha P has been the changes they have made on the keys.

The wood is then finished with synthetic ebony and ivory surfacing. So, is all this worth the trouble and how is it different from plastic keys? First, the keys on this keyboard feel a lot better than their plastic counterparts. Rubbing through them feels more natural and the response is also incredible.

Secondly, the finishing has done a fantastic job in helping to get rid of the nuisance that is moist keys. Spending too much time on the keyboard can take its toll and one of the most prevalent issues is sweaty fingers which can ruin your entire playing experience.

This is also a problem to aspiring or advanced pianists who have naturally sweaty hands. With the ivory finishing, moist around your keys will never be an issue again. This mechanism is especially notable when you press the keys lightly. These sounds are of different genres making sure that your skills are as diversified as possible. As we already pointed out, the VRM technology incorporated in this technology has breathed life to sounds that were already out of this world.

This has increased the depth of the sounds while maintaining their precision. Play these sounds alongside the choruses and reverbs and the final product will be magical. With over Voices, P gives you a wide selection of sounds to choose from, making it the perfect tool to create and perform in any musical genre.

P has a Natural Wood X NWX keyboard - created using the unrivaled expertise Yamaha has acquired through more than a century of crafting some of the world's finest acoustic pianos.
